Alaric scoffed. "What can words do that swords cannot?"

Intrigued despite himself, Alaric dismounted, striding forward until he stood before her. Seraphine, wary but curious, approached from her side. The three met in the center, their armies watching with bated breath.

Lyra turned to Alaric first. "You seek victory. But what will you win? Land? Gold? The graves of your enemies? And at what cost? More lives lost, more mothers weeping, more children growing up with hatred in their hearts?"

Alaric frowned, his jaw tightening.

She faced Seraphine. "And you, my queen. You fight for survival, for honor. But even if you win, your kingdom will be broken, your people too weary to rebuild."

Lyra’s voice softened, yet it held a power that silenced the whispers on the field. "Your war has already been fought in the hearts of your people. Alaric crossed his arms. "You speak prettily, girl, but words cannot erase treachery or blood feuds."

Seraphine's gaze was sharp, but there was a flicker of something deeper—hope, perhaps. "And what words would you offer, Lyra? What magic phrase could undo this hatred?"

Lyra smiled faintly. "Not magic. Truth." She paused, her voice strong and clear. "This war was born of lies and misunderstandings. Alaric, you were told Seraphine’s ancestors stole your land. The two monarchs exchanged wary glances.

The silence was deafening.

Finally, Alaric spoke, his voice low. "If what you say is true, and this war is built on lies… then it must end."

Seraphine nodded slowly. "I am weary of bloodshed. Let us speak, Alaric, if only to spare our people another day of mourning."

Lyra stepped back, her heart pounding as the two rulers turned toward their armies. Together, they raised their hands—not in war, but in peace.

The soldiers, stunned, began to cheer. The sound echoed across the plains, louder than any battle cry, a chorus of relief and hope.
